Cuba has always been an island of desire and yet, or perhaps because of it, it has always been marked by dramatic tensions throughout its history. Today, Cuba is one of the last socialist states in the world that lives from two very different myths: For some, the dream of the communist revolution has survived to this day. For others, however, the world-famous cigars, rum and vintage cars tell the myth of the pre-revolutionary era, when Cuba was one of the most developed countries in Latin America.
