Cuba – the Citylife
Cuba – a land of contrasts – First the natives against the colonial powers, then the big landowners against tobacco farmers or Cubans and the tensions to Spain later to the USA. Batista, Mafia, America, Fidel and Raul Castro. from hard capitalism to the direct opposite. Cuba becomes one of the biggest social experiments and if you look back today, it probably failed. In the 50s, Cuba was economically one of the strongest countries in the world, but nothing more can be seen of it today. Decay on every corner, one sees lucky Latin Americans with cigars, but also beggars and resigned people. Capitalism, which apparently does not exist, is omnipresent. The tourism takes off and the government opens the country, it goes again in the direction of capitalism. Nobody knows where the journey is going, Cuba remains a land of contrasts.
